Énergir pays $0.30 per m³ of natural gas saved in the first year after implementation, plus 50% of feasibility study costs. Up to $100K for small/medium consumers, $175K for large. Our Energy division manages eligibility, design, and application across the Énergir program stack — including the joint dual-energy program with Hydro-Québec and TEQ.

The joint dual-energy program is the most consequential grant lever on a gas-served building today — financing up to 80% of project surcharges for buildings adding electric capacity while keeping gas as a peak-load backup.

    The dual-energy program offered jointly by Énergir, Hydro-Québec, and Transition Énergétique Québec finances up to 80% of project surcharges on systems sized for both gas and electric operation. The single largest stackable envelope on a gas-served building.

  • Three programs, one application stack

    Énergir handles the gas-savings side, Hydro-Québec the electric efficiency side, and Transition Énergétique Québec the GHG-reduction side through ÉcoPerformance. Our Energy division structures the demands so they line up without breaking individual eligibility.

  • For gas-served buildings going dual-energy

    Best suited to commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings currently served by natural gas that want to add a heat pump for shoulder seasons and keep gas as the cold-snap backup. Our Energy division engineers the cut-over points and the control strategy.

How we work

Four steps from eligibility to year-one reporting

  1. Eligibility review

    Tell us about your building, your Énergir rate class, and your project; we map every active Énergir program (implementation, feasibility, smart hood, efficient products) and tell you what you qualify for.

  2. Grant-optimized design

    We design the HVAC measures so the eligible m³ saved is maximized — equipment selection, control strategy, and recovery topology engineered against the program rules, not after the fact.

  3. Application management

    We file the paperwork on the feasibility-study component, the implementation grant, and any stacked programs — Énergir, ÉcoPerformance, Hydro-Québec.

  4. Performance reporting

    Énergir requires measurement of the m³ saved in year one. We instrument the project and deliver the program-required reporting.

  • Who qualifies for Énergir grants?

    Natural-gas consumers in Quebec served by Énergir — commercial, institutional, and industrial sites. The rate class (D1, D3, D4, D5) determines the cap on the feasibility-study component; the volume of gas saved drives the implementation grant. Our Energy division confirms your rate class and program fit during the eligibility review.

  • What measures are actually covered?

    Two main paths: (1) the implementation grant pays $0.30 per m³ of natural gas saved in the first year after implementation, capped at $100K small/medium or $175K large consumer — open to most HVAC efficiency and recovery measures that reduce gas use; (2) the efficient-products program pays per-unit subsidies on qualifying equipment — condensing boilers, water heaters, unit heaters, radiant heating, and smart hood controls.

  • How does the smart hood subsidy actually work?

    When you install an intelligent hood control system on a commercial extraction hood, Énergir pays a fixed amount of $3,350 plus a variable amount of $0.45 per CFM of the extraction system. On a typical mid-size kitchen hood the variable portion is often the larger of the two — a 4,000 CFM hood adds $1,800 to the fixed $3,350.

  • Who qualifies for the dual-energy program?

    The joint Énergir + Hydro-Québec + TEQ dual-energy program finances up to 80% of project surcharges for buildings keeping natural gas as a peak-load fuel while adding electric heat for shoulder seasons. Best suited to gas-served commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings — our Energy division confirms eligibility against the current program rules during the eligibility review.

  • Can Énergir grants be stacked with ÉcoPerformance?

    Yes. Énergir pays on the m³ saved; ÉcoPerformance pays on tonnes of CO₂eq avoided ($125/tonne small/medium consumers, $40/tonne large, $50/tonne large with ISO 50001). The two programs target different units, so they stack on most gas-reduction projects. ÉcoPerformance caps the combined public funding at 75% of eligible cost — our Energy division structures the application stack to maximize that envelope.

  • What does the Energy division handle on the application?
