Énergir can provide up to $1 per m³ of natural gas saved and cover 50% of a feasibility study, subject to current criteria. Our Energy division manages eligibility, design, and applications, including dual-energy projects.

What Énergir funds
Four Énergir programs — one application stack
Énergir, formerly Gaz Métro, is Quebec's largest natural-gas distributor. Its energy-optimization grants fund both the design study and the implementation, plus per-unit subsidies on qualifying equipment.
Implementation of energy-saving measures
Support can reach $1 per m³ of natural gas saved in the first year. It is capped at the lower of $1M per account per Énergir fiscal year or 50% of eligible incremental costs before tax, subject to the current rules.
Feasibility study component
Support is capped at the lower of 50% of the study cost before tax or $50,000 per account per Énergir fiscal year. The request must precede the study; studies funded through ÉcoPerformance are ineligible.
Variable-speed hood controls
Support may be available for controls that modulate hood exhaust based on actual demand. The amount depends on the equipment and current program terms.
Efficient products program
Énergir offers support for certain eligible equipment, including unit heaters, infrared heating, water heaters, and other listed products. We verify the current catalogue before recommending equipment.
Dual-energy program
Coordinated support: Énergir + Hydro-Québec
The dual-energy program can support eligible project surcharges for buildings adding electric capacity while keeping gas as peak-load backup. Current eligibility and calculations must be confirmed for each project.

The Énergir and Hydro-Québec dual-energy program can support eligible surcharges for systems designed to operate on gas and electricity. Eligibility and amounts depend on the building, equipment, and rules in force when the application is filed.
Three programs, one application stack
Énergir addresses gas savings, Hydro-Québec addresses electric efficiency, and ÉcoPerformance addresses GHG reductions. Our Energy division coordinates applications while respecting each program’s criteria.
For gas-served buildings going dual-energy
Best suited to commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings currently served by natural gas that want to add a heat pump for shoulder seasons and keep gas as the cold-snap backup. Our Energy division engineers the cut-over points and the control strategy.

Four steps from eligibility to applicable reporting
Eligibility review
Tell us about your building, your Énergir rate class, and your project; we map every active Énergir program (implementation, feasibility, smart hood, efficient products) and tell you what you qualify for.
Grant-optimized design
We design the HVAC measures so the eligible m³ saved is maximized — equipment selection, control strategy, and recovery topology engineered against the program rules, not after the fact.
Application management
We file the paperwork on the feasibility-study component, the implementation grant, and any stacked programs — Énergir, ÉcoPerformance, Hydro-Québec.
Performance reporting
Savings follow-up is mandatory for projects estimated at 500,000 m³ per year or more and voluntary below that threshold. We align measurement and reporting with the current program rules.
