What our clients ask before signing on
Are you experienced with public-sector procurement and stipulated-price institutional projects?
Yes. We carry RBQ licensing (1269-6704-94) and CMMTQ membership, and routinely act as prime mechanical on stipulated-price and integrated design-build institutional mandates — including PPP new-construction projects such as Library and Archives Canada. Our proposals are formatted for procurement review and we coordinate directly with public-sector AEC firms and prime construction managers.
Do you collaborate with AEC firms, architects and prime construction managers on institutional projects?
Yes. Most large institutional mandates are delivered alongside architectural, engineering and prime-construction partners. On Library and Archives Canada, Kolostat handled the mechanical scope with PCL Construction as lead and Equans as facility-management partner. We work in BIM, hold Groupe BIM Québec membership, and slot into a multi-discipline coordination model from schematic design onward.
How do you engineer for the longevity of institutional assets and long-term asset planning?
Equipment selection, redundancy strategy and controls architecture are sized for the full institutional life cycle — not the lowest first-cost option. After commissioning, our Energy division instruments performance and our service division (25+ trucks, 24/7 dispatch) backs the building through the operating cycles that follow. Multi-year preventive-maintenance contracts can be priced alongside the build to lock in lifetime cost.
Are institutional buildings eligible for ÉcoPerformance grants?
Yes. ÉcoPerformance covers commercial, institutional and industrial sites operating in Quebec, and the institutional sector receives the most generous Implementation-component cap — a 5-year payback ceiling (vs. 3 years commercial, 2 years industrial small/medium, 1 year industrial large). Up to 75% of eligible project cost can be grant-financed across stacked programs. Our Energy division has secured $59M in grants for clients across past mandates.
How do you protect continuity of operations during a retrofit in an occupied institutional building?
Phased shutdowns, temporary services and off-hours execution for invasive scopes — sequenced around live institutional sites including Library and Archives Canada. Our service division (25+ trucks, 24/7 dispatch) covers the construction team when retrofits in occupied buildings need off-hours support, and we coordinate with facility management on operational continuity.
Can you engineer the IAQ, pressurization and filtration upgrades patient-care facilities require?
Yes. Patient-care facilities receive engineering sized to current safety, health and asset-protection codes — pressurization for isolation, filtration grade-up for IAQ, and dedicated outside-air ventilation. Real-time monitoring runs through Automated Logic WebCTRL® controls, the same platform used on Library and Archives Canada vault monitoring.
