OTHER SECTORS

Schools, hospitals, and everything in between

Your building isn't commercial, industrial, or mission-critical? We build for it anyway. Hospitals, universities, school boards, archives, government facilities and other specialized buildings — mechanical systems that meet code, protect assets and last. Kolostat has built them since 1927.

Procurement readiness

The credentials your procurement file expects

Public-sector procurement teams want the licences, the quality system and the track record on file before a contractor gets shortlisted. Here is what we carry.

RBQ — Régie du bâtiment du Québec
Licence 1269-6704-94. The contractor licence required to act as a prime mechanical on Quebec public-sector construction projects.
CMMTQ — Corporation des maîtres mécaniciens en tuyauterie du Québec
Active member. CMMTQ membership is the trade qualification expected by Quebec institutional procurement for piping and mechanical work.
Stipulated-price / integrated design-build experience
Routine delivery on fixed-price and integrated design-build mandates — including PPP institutional projects with a single mechanical contract.
Industry associations
ASHRAE, CMMTQ, ACQ, Groupe BIM Québec, APCHQ, BOMA Québec, CQ3e, IDU, Réseau énergie bâtiment, ASPE, Canada Green Building Council.
Engineering certifications on staff
LEED, CEM, CMVP and RCx credentials across 300+ engineers, technologists and certified pros — the credentials institutional ESG and energy mandates ask for.

Procurement FAQ

What our clients ask before signing on

  • Can Kolostat act as prime mechanical on a CCDC stipulated-price institutional project?

Yes. We carry RBQ licensing (1269-6704-94) and CMMTQ membership, and we routinely act as the prime mechanical contractor on stipulated-price and integrated design-build mandates for the public sector — including new-construction projects such as Library and Archives Canada.

  • Do you carry CMMTQ and RBQ licensing for Quebec public-sector work?

Yes. RBQ licence 1269-6704-94 and active CMMTQ membership. Our technicians and engineers carry the certifications (CMMTQ, RBQ) required to deploy mechanical work on Quebec institutional construction.

  • How do you handle work in occupied schools, hospitals and government facilities?

We sequence work around occupancy — phased shutdowns, temporary services, off-hours execution for invasive scopes. Our service division (25+ trucks, 24/7 dispatch) backs the construction team when occupied institutional buildings need off-hours coverage during a retrofit.

  • Have you delivered net-zero institutional projects?

Yes. Library and Archives Canada is one example — a PPP new-construction archival facility delivered with Equans (operating partner) and PCL Construction (lead) that earned LEED Gold certification and was engineered around the net-zero target the federal client set for the project.

  • Do you coordinate with public-sector decarbonization mandates and grant programs?

Yes — through our Energy division. We align the mechanical scope with the institution's net-zero plan, file the technical and financial dossiers (ÉcoPerformance, Énergir, Hydro-Québec, NRCan), and report post-implementation. Up to 75% of energy-reengineering project cost can be grant-financed.

  • Do you work on heritage and federal archive environmental controls?

Yes. The Library and Archives Canada preservation centre is one of our reference projects — six vaults engineered to maintain 10°C / 40% RH (five vaults) and 6°C / 30% RH (one vault) for the long-term preservation of archival materials, with Automated Logic controls integrating real-time temperature and humidity readings.
