GENERAL JOB OVERVIEW:
As a Building Mechanics Estimator/Designer, and as part of our estimating department, you will be primarily responsible of supporting the department’s workload as described below under the supervision of the VP of Sales and Engineering. You will also be responsible of supporting the sales and project management departments on design-build projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform estimation of building mechanics projects using Kolostat tools;
- Coordinate estimation and engineering and participate in the design of projects.
- Participate in client site visits and document relevant data to advance preliminary engineering and estimation.
- Analyze plans, specifications, and projects.
- Perform preliminary design of HVAC and piping systems, including equipment sizing and selection.
- Participate in project bid closing and peer review meetings.
- Make the link between the estimate and the construction sites.
- Participate in transfer meetings of sold projects to the operations team.
- Write proposals and submit them for approval prior to presentation.
- Become familiar with the various estimating and design tools in Kolostat and use your experience to standardize processes as much as possible.
- Actively participate in the achievement of corporate objectives related to the construction department.
- Communicate effectively with employees in all departments to improve organizational effectiveness.
- Perform any other related duties as requested.
DESIRED PROFILE:
- DEC in building mechanics, AEC in estimation or equivalent.
- 3-5 years experience in estimating.
- Knowledge in building mechanics.
- Experience in design, an asset.
- Knowledge of Autocad software, knowledge of REVIT software, an asset.
- Knowledge of QuoteSoft software, an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingual (French and English).
- Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines.
- Ability to adapt, team spirit and ease of communication.
