Plumbing/Piping Project Manager

The primary functions of this position are as follows:

  • Interpret plans and specifications.
  • Manage projects during the execution of the work.
  • Establish and follow construction schedules.
  • Job site visits.
  • Take the necessary measures for cost control.
  • Must be organized, have good communication skills and be committed to teamwork.

This employee reports to the General Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Review contract documents and prepare an outline of complete scope of work prior to executing project management duties.
  • Support the General Manager to generate detailed lists from engineering sketches (equipment, areas, linear feet, use take off system) for purchasing.
  • Become familiar with and use pre-established standard corporate operating procedures.
  • Negotiate and issue purchase orders in accordance with the project’s requirements.
  • Set up and manage construction schedules using Microsoft project, as well as prepare summary equipment tables which include delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate project details with clients, architects, engineers, and other trades.
  • Manage project installation within budgets and maintain up-to-date project cost monitoring reports.
  • Manage contract change order process including pricing work, presenting values, follow up and execution of change order work.
  • Prepare billing breakdown for monthly approval by professionals/general contractors, and issue progressive billing.
  • Prepare a detailed list of scope of work and testing procedures to be followed during start up of equipment, commissioning, control, balancing, insulation, and other sub trades.
  • Witness any field testing/commissioning when required and comment on any observations.
  • Maintain and ensure quality control and minimize project deficiencies.
  • Represent Kolostat & attend job site meetings professionally and as required.
  • Manage project’s warrantee issues, maintenance, and servicing.
  • Perform office administration functions (filing, purchase orders, invoicing, etc.).
  • Prepare letters and memos to various departments, sub-contractors, and suppliers as required to execute the work.
  • All other related tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (French / English).
  • Diploma in Building Engineering Systems or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (speciality:  Building Engineering Systems).
  • Two (2) to Five (5) years’ experience.
  • Knowledge in HVAC systems (an asset).
  • Understanding of Autocad / Revit (an asset).
  • Windows / Microsoft Office.

Draftsperson in Ventilation

Principle functions:

  • Prepare working drawings for the installation of ductwork (HVAC).

  • Thorough knowledge of the current codes
  • Be able to tale site measurements
  • Ensure that the installation team has all the necessary details and information, drawings and supplier installation manuals to ensure a coordinated and efficient installation.
  • Create a list of equipment from the engineers’ concept sketches (including equipment, zones etc. for supply and production of prefabrication pieces
  • Review all contract documents, and prepare a scope of work prior to site installation
  • This employee will report to the chief draftsman/designer of the piping plumbing division

Experience:

Piping Foreman

Experience

The primary function of this position is site foreman in piping for the HVAC construction industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coordinate and organize all work among the pipe installers, both for new and maintenance of existing systems used in the commercial, and industrial projects
  • Establish work methods that will respect the job schedule and coordinate the work with other trades on site
  • Order material and tools
  • Review site problems related to the working conditions, and make recommendations to alleviate them while increasing productivity
  • Teach the workers the most up to date methods
  • Make sure the norms de travail and security measures are respected
  • Supervise and organize as required all work with the apprentices and pipe fitting helpers

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a competency card from the CCQ as a plumber

Energy Efficiency Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director of Energy Services, you will be responsible of understanding and participating in the development and realization of preliminary engineering of various energy efficiency projects in the commercial and/or industrial sectors. You will work closely with other team members to complete various feasibility studies and projects.  Your primary functions will be the following:

  • Study project plans, quotations and specifications;
  • Participate in jobsite visits and document pertinent information to advance preliminary engineering;
  • Analyze the utility bills (Hydro-Québec and Énergir) of existing buildings and propose utility billing optimization solutions;
  • Perform load calculations and energy savings calculations using the software utilized by Kolostat and produce related reports;
  • Complete application forms for financial support programs to which projects are eligible (Energir, Hydro-Québec, Transition Énergétique Québec, NRCan);
  • Identify and develop viable energy efficiency measures for clients based on the different grant programs available as well as clients' financial criteria.
  • Write reports of energy retrofit feasibility studies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a profile in Building Mechanics;
  • 3 to 10 years of experience in the fields of building mechanics / energy efficiency;
  • Language requirements – French : fluent in oral and written communications; English : functional in written and oral communications; bilingualism is an asset;
  • Experience or familiarity with energy efficiency grant programs (Énergir, Transition Énergétique Québec)  is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Windows/Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Knowledge of the load calculation software and/or energy simulation;
  • Quick learner, ability to communicate in a team environment, attention to detail.

Dispatch Assistant

Job Responsibilities:

  • Make quotation of the work required to be performed
  • Enter all contracts and the tasks associated with this work
  • Make purchase orders for parts required by the technicians, record sales of products to the client including invoicing to the client
  • Match and verify the invoices against the packing slips and work sheets from the technicians
  • Make sure maintenance of contracts is being followed with the dispatcher
  • Replace the dispatcher during their holidays or absence
  • Assure that documents F940 and RBQ are sent as required
